I Love MLM

Author: Jim Garvin

I Like MLM Opportunities But..........

I love the potential earnings that I can realize from MLM opportunities, and I know there are lots of other people who feel the way I do also. I know this because I receive dozens of postcards, tapes and booklets promoting all kinds of MLM companies every week.

This over whelming amount of mail promoting MLM's seems to be growing every week. I have a box full of tapes that these nice people have sent me, and another box of booklets and post cards. I save them not because I am considering joining any new programs, because I am already involved in MLM, and I am happy with my companies products, services and commissions

The reason I save them is because I try to see how long these nice people stay with their MLM company before they are sending out materials for another great company. It seems that some of these people are switching companies about as often as I change my socks.

Every mailing piece claims they will make you big money fast. Take a look at some of the promises I have received lately.
WE WILL BUILD YOUR DOWNLINE FOR YOU

TIRED OF WORKING FOR SOMEONE ELSE ?
MAKE MONEY WHILE LYING ON THE BEACH

It is really amazing that none of the headlines really tell you that you must work hard at this business to be successful. I am not naive I know that headlines are supposed draw the readers attention and get their interest. that is why we never will see a headline that says

WORK YOUR BUTT OFF AND SPEND MONEY TRYING TO RECRUIT OTHERS TO DO THE SAME, WHILE NOT MAKING ANY MONEY FOR MAYBE 2 OR 3 MONTHS, AND SOME CASES EVEN LONGER.

I know that the response rate would be zero for a ad like that, but that is a lot closer to the truth than any of the other headlines. But people do not really want to hear the truth, they would rather be romanced into a get rich quick, with little or no effort opportunity. So if you want to sign people up into your downline you must glamorize the company. Flash those big checks from your upline, and don't forget to show the pictures of the big houses and flashy cars. That is what people want to see.

Don't show them the distributor who is making hundreds of copies of the promotional materials, and stuffing hundreds of envelopes, and licking all those stamps. And buying the mailing lists, and then getting one or two responses to the mailing. All that work and so little to show for it. And just because you get a few responses doesn't mean that the people are going to sign up with you. Some people just like to get mail.

You may think that I am anti MLM, but nothing could be further from the truth, what I am is anti HYPE. It really bothers me to see the type of advertising that is being used to recruit distributors. The industry has a high failure rate as we all know. I blame the big hype for a large part of the failure and then I blame the people who are looking for a get rich quick scheme. When they find out MLM is not a get rich quick business they drop out fast.

MLM is a business, so let's treat it like one. As my daughter often says GET REAL. There are many people making some serious money in this business, but they also spent some serious time and effort into building the business. This is one of the few businesses that people can start for less than $100. in some cases, and have a chance to make as much money as a Lawyer or Doctor. But you must be ready to learn the business and spend some serious time working it. If you are not prepared for that you are better off playing the lottery and hoping for the big hit someday. People don't seem to mind throwing money away on lottery tickets week after week. But they won't put the same kind of money into building a home business, that has a better chance of success, GO FIGURE.
