Freedom, It's All About Freedom

Author: Linda Cameron

I worked in corporate America for over 30 years, 21 of them at IBM. I can only give you the initials because I dont want to tell you out right who it was. When I got that job in manufacturing I was so excited. It was a great place to work. I had opportunity to make good money, new friends and find a way out of a bad marriage. I worked very hard for that company and they treated me well. Promotions and big raises abounded, you don't even realize how that takes your freedom. You become what they need, someone that would give up their life for the company. Spend hours of overtime (which I got paid for) making money and becoming more indentured to them. I spent more money, bought more things and could not walk away if I wanted to. Well, so much for freedom. Stress attack in the parking lot became my wakeup call. I had reached the glass ceiling (they said) not enough education to move up and at the top of my pay scale. People were getting laid off, everyone lived in FEAR. Hide out in the office and maybe the layoff god wouldnt get you. My favorite thing was the program that someone wrote where you could ask, how long to retirement? It would come back and tell you the years, days, hours, minutes and seconds until you had your thirty years in. I thought that was sad. Other people just thought it was funny. The day I left people asked me how could I go. My response was how could you not? Hiding out in offices and asking how long until I got out was so sad to me.

So here I am, in network marketing. Seeing freedom everywhere I look. Its been a struggle figuring out how to make it work. I have used all the excuses. I find that the real problem lies within. The voice that tells me every time I talk with someone how stupid I sound. The voice that never stops telling you that you are not good enough. The voice that creates the FEAR that keeps me from talking to enough people. Keeps me from talking to people who would see this opportunity and run with it. People who know networking is how you make money. So today, is the beginning of the rest of my life! The new me that will talk to everyone and not feel incomplete. The voice will not go away, but I will become aware of it and take charge.
